Time to start training! Several high elevation endurance events happen throughout the year in Mono County, and with breathtaking (figuratively and literally) views, we know you'll agree they're worth it!

Called the "toughest race in the most beautiful place", the June Lake Triathlon is happening Saturday, August 19th and has something for everyone. Pick your distance from Half Ironman, Olympic, or Sprint...or focus on your strong sport (swimming, running, or biking) and find a friend or two to compete as part of a relay team. There's even a beginner kid's race to get the whole family involved. Register early and snag a campsite at Oh Ridge campground for an amazing weekend away with family and friends. The incredibly beautiful setting will take your mind off the race, and when it's all over, enjoy the post-race celebration on the June Lake beach.

The Mammoth Gran Fondo on Saturday, September 9th is fun, challenging, and breathtaking! If you're not ready to tackle the full 102-mile Gran Fondo route, get started with the 42 or 70 mile options or form a team to tackle the ride. These beautiful rides are challenging but manageable. Although there's plenty of uphill climbs on the scenic routes, they are nicely spaced-out with long, fast descents in between to recharge you for the next one.

Join the Mono Lake Committee on Sunday, September 10th for the annual Tioga Pass Run and enjoy one of the most beautiful roads in America! Walk or run 12.4 miles from Lee Vining up 9,943' Tioga Pass, ascending 3,200 feet (yes, 3,200 feet!) to Yosemite's east entrance. Advertised as a race with "only one hill", the Great scenery, tasty snacks, and good cause (proceeds from the race benefit local nonprofit the Mono Lake Committee) will be your mantra as you conquer the race! Find more information and register at tiogapassrun.com

For a nice dirt-trail race with beautiful scenery, old neighbors and new friends, then the Crowley Lake Trail Run is it. The 5k/10k and kids 1k is a fundraising event for the Crowley Lake Community. The course winds through fire roads next to Crowley Lake, past Beaver Cove and Crooked Creek, and boasts beautiful views of Crowley Lake and the surrounding Glass Mountains, White Mountains, and Sierra Nevada Mountains. The run takes place the morning of Sunday, September 24th. Register early - it sells out! For more information, please visit the Crowley Lake Trail Run website.

Another stunning point-to-point course awaits you at the Ridge Rambler Half Marathon. Come and run 13.1 miles in the beautiful Bridgeport area on Saturday, September 30th. The start of the race is at about 7,100 feet on the backside of Lower Twin Lake, beneath the imposing Sawtooth Ridge. The course remains steady around the lake and then starts heading downhill from Twin Lakes towards Buckeye Road, with gentle rolling until the finish of the race at 6,600 ft. Celebrate your amazing run at the after party hosted by Growler's Eatery and Big Meadow Brewing, and feel extra good knowing all proceeds go to support students at the Bridgeport Elementary School. Please visit the website to register, and get more updates and information on the Ridge Rambler Facebook page.
