Get Out on the Water

Nothing says "summer vacation" quite like a day on the water. Top-notch fishing and incredible views make days on the water even more memorable in Mono County, and with 18 gorgeous high alpine lakes to choose from, the only thing you'll need is more time!

Marinas at Crowley Lake, June Lake, Gull Lake, Convict Lake, Twin Lakes (Bridgeport), and the Bridgeport Reservoir all rent pontoon boats for a fun group outing on the water. All of these lakes plus Silver Lake, Rock Creek Lake, and Grant Lake offer fishing boat rentals, too.

If you’re bringing your own boat, most drive-up lakes in the Eastern Sierra have boat launches operated by a private marina or on national forest land. We recommend calling a local visitor center/ranger station and the marina for current information and fees.

In the Mammoth Lakes Basin, Lake Mary is the only lake for fishing and pontoon boats -- you can rent them from Pokonobe Marina or Lake Mary Marina or use Pokonobe’s boat launch if you bring your own boat.

Crowley Lake, Grant Lake and Topaz Lake are the only lakes in Mono County that allow jet skis and powerboats for water-skiing and wake-boarding.
