This trail is less frequented than the handful of others that also begin at Horseshoe Lake. It offers three miles (one way) of moderate dirt trail and a junction with the John Muir Trail. Hike through an old growth Red Fir forest and get up close with the Red Cones, one of Mammoth’s interesting volcanic formations that are 2,000 years old.
