Obsidian Campground

Camp creekside in a remote setting amid the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Ten summer-only sites are located near the trout filled Little Walker River, bordered with lovely aspens and pines. Several hiking trails leading into the high country begin at Obsidian Campground. The nearest town, Walker, Ca., several miles up the road, has a general store and fuel. Mono Lake is an hour south. Picnic tables and vault toilets are provided; bring your own water. To find Obsidian Campground take Highway 395 north of Bridgeport, Ca. and turn onto Little Walker Road, a well-maintained dirt stretch, for about 3 miles. Sites are first-come, first-served.
