The Lakes Canyon Trail begins along the Lundy Canyon Trail and packs an amazing amount of scenery and Sierra Nevada wonders. This short, 3 mile hike leads you directly into the Hoover Wilderness and encounters historic ruins, enormous beaver ponds, waterfalls and many wildflower filled meadows. This trail can be continued on into Twenty Lakes Basin over a scenic, yet dangerous section of tallus-covered trail. The trail is steep and narrow and hikers must be prepared for this type of high risk hiking. Getting there: From Lee Vining along HWY 395, drive north towards Bridgeport, CA for roughly 7 miles. There will be a signed intersection indicating a left turn into Lundy Canyon on Lundy Lake Road. Follow the road to the end of the lake where Lundy Lake Resort sits and continue on the dirt road another 1.5 miles to the trailhead parking.
