California’s Great Beyond

Bald Mountain

Bald Mountain, and its Bald Mountain Road back county access road, provides bountiful opportunity for wilderness exploration. Its location off the highway between towns Mammoth Lakes and June Lake makes it convenient in both summer and winter. Winter activities include snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. In summer, go fishing in Deadman Creek, a tributary to the Owens River, and explore OHV/ATV trails. To reach Bald Mountain Road, exit east off Highway 395 about 8 miles north of Mammoth Lakes (across the road from Obsidian Dome).
