Mono Country Visitors Guide

We have several guides to help plan your trip to Mono County and the Eastern Sierra.

Topaz/Coleville/Walker

Northern Mono County's trio of towns is the start of the Eastern Sierra Scenic by-way, featuring informative kiosks about the regions geology, history, flora and fauna.  Strung along the Walker River, the towns are situated on the west side of the Antelope Valley.  Each town has a unique quality.

Topaz
The most northern town in Mono County, Topaz provides services for visitors to Topaz Lake.  Known for it's prize-winning trout, nine-month fishing season, and water sports, Topaz Lake is a recreation paradise.  Visitors can also try their luck at the casino, located just over the Nevada border overlooking the lake.

Coleville
Coleville offers a pastoral ranchland setting next to dramatic cliffs.

Walker
The charming community of Walker is proud of it galleries, trading posts, retro roadside motels and cabins, and a burger stand amid birdhouses.

Wildlife Viewing, Fishing & Hunting
Relatively mild winters make the Antelope Valley a natural stopping off point for wildlife; home to one of California's largest herds of mule deer.  For anglers, easy access to the West Walker River along highway 395 provides excellent fishing opportunities.

The towns of Topaz, Coleville and Walker are located halfway between Lake Tahoe (70 minutes) and Mammoth Lakes (80 minutes).
