Crowley Lake dominates the broad expanse of Long Valley. It was here about 700,000 years ago that massive eruptions flattened a volcano and sent hot ash and debris pouring down to Owens Valley.

In more recent times, Long Valley was a vast meadow land until 1941, when the LA Department of Water & Power built the Long Valley Dam and created Crowley Lake. Today the lake is the focal point of fishing season's opening day, and its marina stays busy from late spring into the fall.
Seasonal water sports include water-skiing, wake-boarding and jet-skiing. Numerous bird species frequent the lake and its shores: including bald eagles, white pelicans, sage grouse, various waterfowl and shorebirds.

For a change of scenery, visitors to the Crowley Lake area can head up McGee Creek for camping, stream fishing, horseback riding and hiking.
