Mono County Events

Hosted by Convict Lake Resort, the Spring Fishing Derby has $6500 in prizes up for grabs.  Register at Convict Lake ($15) or call 760-934-3800.

Starts at 7:00 pm. Located at the Green Church (Hwy 395 & Benton Crossing Road). Admission is FREE and the public in invited. Lectures last apporximately one hour.

Blue Turtle Seduction takes the stage at Tioga Gas Mart, 6pm on Thursday, June 11. Both musically and socially aware, this five-piece rock / bluegrass / reggae / hip-hop hybrid creates music that defies classification. Embodying the essence of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Blue Turtle Seduction captures the upbeat, party vibe and jovial ambiance of their hometown.

Join the party at Tioga Gas Mart in Lee Vining for a whole summer of FREE concerts!  At the junction of Hwy. 395 and SR 120, this is also the home of Whoa Nellie Deli, serving up famous fish tacos among other favorite menu items.

KidApolooza – a one-day FREE event celebrating families and childcare providers in Mono County.  The event will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Mammoth Creek Park, Mammoth Lakes, California and is open to the public.  KidApolooza is a day full of children's entertainment, featuring Latin American children's performer and recording artist José Luis Orozco, and other family-friendly entertainment, booths, crafts, food, petting zoo, a bicycle rodeo (bring your bike, trike, and helmet) and activities that support the event's themes of wellness, health, literacy, community, and social responsibility.

Gull Lake Marina is hosting their annual season-long "Fish of the Month Club" Derby. Cash prizes will be awarded for the biggest catch from Gull Lake every month of fishing season. Open for the season on May 28, 2009, the Mono County Museum was the original Bridgeport Elementary School, built in 1880.  It was situated at the corner of Kingsley and School Streets, where the present school is located.  In March of 1964 the structure was moved to its present location in Bridgeport Park (on the north side of Main Street and west of School Street) to be used as a museum.  In January of 1965, Curator Symmonds announced that the museum was ready to accept artifacts, and by April enough items were in place for an official preview.  The museum was opened for business in June 1965.  The museum now contains a plethora of artifacts from the early settlers of the Bridgeport Valley, plus a large number of native Paiute baskets from the Ella Cain collection. 

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 9am - 4pm.  Closed Sundays & Mondays.

Saturdays & Sundays beginning in June, experience Bodie as you never have before with a 90 minute tour  from 4 - 5:30pm, which includes Stamp Mill and Town.  Sign up at the Museum for tour registration.
