Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area - what's new!
Announcing the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area, 7,254 acres of snowmobile and cross county ski terrain in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range. In 2009 this area was the first congressionally designated winter motorized (snowmobile) use area. This winter (2011-12), with the opening of The Pacific Crest Trail Crossing, access is easier from points west and east. This includes Sonora Pass, home to the famous backcountry terrain and endless Sierra snow, an adventurer’s dream!

After a six month grassroots public effort, the world-renowned state park at Mono Lake—the Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve—has been removed from California’s 70-park closure list!!
